Does CBD improve digestion?

Do you often experience heartburn and difficulty digesting food? You should know that digestive disorders are far more common ailments than you might think. The number of people who suffer from it is constantly increasing, and the situation is not likely to stop any time soon. However, fortunately, there is an effective solution to combat intestinal problems that is CBD. The latter soothes, is anti-vomiting, reduces pain or even prevents it. It is a true ally. So, how does CBD support digestion? How do you consume it to fully benefit from all these advantages?

WHAT ARE THE LIMITATIONS OF STANDARD DIGESTIVE TREATMENTS?

The digestive system and its proper functioning are often disrupted by certain phenomena that are called ''functional digestive disorders.'' They manifest themselves in different ways: gastroesophageal reflux, vomiting, nausea, bloating, abdominal pain, flatulence and many others. Certainly, these different symptoms are benign, but they provide the individual who suffers a feeling of discomfort both psychologically and physically.

Ideally, to treat digestive disorders, the standard treatment recommends dietary hygiene at first. Also prescribed are neuromodulators and antiemetics, which are handy for combating abdominal pain, vomiting and nausea. However, the problem with these classic treatments is that they are really limited, especially when it comes to vomiting and nausea. The European Journal of Pharmacology has published an article in which some researchers confirm the inadequacy of current therapies in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders. In the same article, they also highlight the effectiveness of cannabis in treating the manifestations of these disorders.

CBD: HOW DOES IT SUPPORT DIGESTION?

Our bodies are packed with endocannabinoid receptors. This is the first piece of information you need to know to understand how CBD treats digestive disorders. In the majority of cells in the body, there are two types of receptors. These are CB1 and CB2. These are also found in the digestive tract.

Or, we can note the different properties of CBD that are favorable to digestion. As stated above, it is anti-vomiting, soothing, and it prevents and reduces pain sensations.

Hemp, in addition to promoting healthy digestion, is also a great heartburn fighter. It is also very handy for avoiding certain discomforts related to the digestive system: acid reflux, constipation and others.

CANNABIDIOL AND NAUSEA

According to several studies, cannabidiol can effectively relieve nausea. This beneficial action of CBD comes from its ability to impact the endocannabinoid system. So what actually happens? The ingestion of CBD leads to an increase in the level of anandamide present in the body. Thus affecting the CB1 receptors. Note that these are present in the medullary oblong, where the sensation of nausea comes from. This activation, therefore, causes the reduction or even inhibition of nausea just moments after ingestion of CBD.

CANNABIDIOL AND VOMITING

Subjects undergoing chemotherapy or with HIV and also suffering from vomiting were successfully treated with cannabidiol. The latter was able to swallow entire meals without regurgitating a single sip. Combined with THC at a level of 0.2%, CBD causes the activation of CB1 receptors, which acts on the area involved in the gastric emptying system. Better still, according to some studies, CBDA, which is an unheated version of CBD, would have a much more effective anti-emetic action than CBD.

HOW TO CONSUME CBD TO GET THE MOST OUT OF IT.

CBD can be ingested in various ways. But, which one is best suited to promote proper digestion?

Hemp tea

Herbal tea is one of the best ways to take care of your digestive system. You no doubt already knew about it. By opting for hemp tea, you increase the feeling of comfort and the beneficial actions that are brought to your body.

Hemp tea has several virtues. It will promote the regulation of your digestive functions. If it is preferable to consume it at the end of a meal because of its fruity taste, it is possible to consume it at any time of the day. Among the ingredients used in its preparation, we distinguish ginger, apple, mint or even fennel.

The preparation of hemp tea is not rocket science. You will need a small amount of simmering water in which you brew one or even two spoons of CBD infusion.

Note, however, that CBD is fat-soluble. Therefore, to dissolve, it will need the intervention of a fatty substance. It is recommended to make the infusion preferably in a mixture of milk and water to retain all its beneficial properties.

A few drops of CBD oil in a meal

Generally, CBD in this form (oil) is used under the tongue, which is done drop by drop. However, it is also possible to use it in cooking as long as certain very specific rules are followed. Why? Well, you will be able to enjoy a relaxing and tasty dish that will have no negative effect on your digestion.

CBD oil is used as a cooking oil. It can be used as a seasoning or as an addition to fat. However, one should be careful about the taste of CBD oil, as it is quite distinctive. To make sure that you don't commit any deviation, you should do your own culinary experiments.
