Le CBD permet-il d'améliorer la digestion ?

Can CBD improve digestion?

What are the limitations of standard treatments for digestion?

The digestive system and its proper functioning are often disrupted by certain phenomena called "functional digestive disorders".

They manifest themselves in different ways: gastroesophageal reflux, vomiting, nausea, bloating, abdominal pain, flatulence and many others...admittedly, these different symptoms are benign, but they cause the individual who suffers from them a feeling of discomfort both psychologically and physically.

Ideally, to treat digestive disorders, standard treatment recommends dietary hygiene first.

Neuromodulators and antiemetics are also prescribed, which are useful for combating abdominal pain, vomiting and nausea.

However, the problem with these conventional treatments is that they are truly limited, especially when it comes to vomiting and nausea. The European Journal of Pharmacology published an article in which some researchers confirm the inadequacies of current therapies in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders.

In the same article, they also highlight the effectiveness of cannabis in treating the manifestations of these disorders.

CBD: How does it aid digestion?

Our bodies are packed with endocannabinoid receptors. This is the first piece of information you need to know to truly understand how CBD helps treat digestive disorders.

In most cells in the body, there are two types of receptors: CB1 and CB2. These are also found in the digestive tract.

Now, we can note the different properties of CBD that are favorable to digestion . As we specified above, it is anti-emetic, soothing, and it prevents and reduces sensations of pain.

Hemp, in addition to promoting good digestion, is also an excellent way to combat heartburn. It is also very useful for avoiding certain digestive problems: acid reflux, constipation, and others...

Cannabidiol and nausea

According to several studies, cannabidiol can effectively relieve nausea. This beneficial effect of CBD comes from its ability to impact the endocannabinoid system.

So what's actually happening? Ingesting CBD increases the level of anandamide in the body, thus affecting CB1 receptors. These receptors are located in the medulla oblongata, where the nausea sensation originates.

This activation therefore causes the reduction or even inhibition of nausea just a few moments after ingestion of the CBD.

Cannabidiol and vomiting

Patients undergoing chemotherapy or suffering from HIV, who also suffered from vomiting, have been successfully treated with cannabidiol. These patients were able to swallow entire meals without regurgitating a single mouthful.

When combined with THC at a level of 0,3%, CBD activates CB1 receptors, which in turn act on the area involved in the gastric emptying system. Better still, according to some studies, CBDA, which is an unheated version of CBD, has a much more effective antiemetic effect than CBD.

How to consume CBD to fully benefit from it?

CBD can be ingested in a variety of ways. But which one is best suited to promote healthy digestion?

A hemp herbal tea

You're probably already familiar with it. Herbal tea is one of the best ways to take care of your digestive system. By opting for hemp tea, you increase the feeling of comfort as well as the beneficial effects it provides to your body.

Hemp tea has several benefits. It helps regulate your digestive functions. While it's best consumed at the end of a meal due to its fruity flavor, it can be consumed at any time of day.

Among the ingredients used in its preparation, we can distinguish ginger, apple, mint and fennel.

Preparing a hemp tea isn't rocket science. You'll need a small amount of simmering water in which you steep one or two spoonfuls of CBD infusion for 3 minutes.

Note, however, that CBD is fat-soluble. To dissolve, it will require the intervention of a fatty substance. It is recommended to make the infusion preferably in a mixture of milk and water to preserve all of its beneficial properties.

A few drops of CBD oil in a meal

Typically, CBD in this form (oil) is used under the tongue, drop by drop. However, it's also possible to use it in cooking, provided certain specific rules are followed. Why? Well, you'll be able to enjoy a relaxing and tasty dish that won't have any negative effects on your digestion.

CBD oil is used as a cooking oil. It can be used as a seasoning or as a fat additive. However, you should be careful with the taste of CBD oil, as it is quite unique. To ensure you don't make any mistakes, you should experiment with your cooking.
