Who are CBD consumers and what are their motivations?

According to an Ifop survey, carried out in 2022 for Atelier Populaire, among a sample of 1,000 people representative of the French population aged 15 and over, CBD is acclaimed by consumers for :

A report from the World Health Organization (WHO), dated 2017, states that CBD is not harmful to health: "It does not produce the effects that CBD commonly seen with cannabinoids such as THC.". Ministerial decree of December 30, 2021 authorised, on the basis of this derogation, "the cultivation, import, export and industrial and commercial use of only varieties of cannabis sativa L. whose delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC ) is not greater than 0.3%", while prohibiting the sale to consumers of the flowers and leaves in their raw state, even with a THC content of less than 0.3%. By decision of the Council of State of January 24, 2022, the execution of this last provision was suspended, the judge in chambers considering "that there is a serious doubt on the legality of this general prohibition measure and absolute because of its disproportionate character.".

For its part, the European Union has come out in favor of the marketing of CBD insofar as it does not contain more than 0.2% THC. However, a few restrictions apply to foods containing CBD: each food containing CBG must be approved by a national food authority before it is marketed.
