HHC: Everything you need to know about this cannabinoid sold to the general public

Hexahydrocannabinol or HHC is a molecule manufactured in laboratory from THC, present in cannabis. Substance acting directly on the central nervous system, it is on sale freely in the CBD shop even if it seems that a legal vagueness surrounds it. How is it designed? What are its effects? Is it really legal in France? Here are some of the questions we will answer in this article.

How is it made?

It is a semi-synthetic derivative of THC, that is, it is found naturally in hemp, such as THC, CBD or CBG, but it usually happens to be made in the laboratory based on THC: a cannabinoid found in cannabis. Created by an American chemist named Roger Adams in the 1940s, this molecule has the particularity of having six hydrogen atoms where THC has only four. Thus, its creation consists of adding two hydrogen atoms to a molecule of delta-9-THC, in a process called "Hydrogenation".

What product can it contain?

< p>It can be found in the same kind of products in which you can usually find CBD. Thus, there are hhc flowers, hhc CBD products, hhc oils, but also hhc and hhc vape e liquids, as well as hhc resin blocks, hhc weed and hash. >

HHC the effects of this molecule.

There is still little research and hindsight to know everything about the effects of this molecule. It is therefore difficult to form an exact opinion. However, being a direct derivative of THC, it is most likely to share its effects with it. Indeed, their composition is so close that they undoubtedly both act on endocannabinoid receptors. If its effects are very similar to those of THC (which is still to be proven), then it will be necessary to achieve effects of this type:

  • Altered perception of the passage of time .
  • Increase in appetite.
  • Change in mood.
  • Soothing effect on pain.

There are currently two known types of HHC: 9R and 9S. One of them would be a cannabinoid hhc while the other would not act on the endocannabinoid system at all.

Is it psychotropic like THC?

Another times, because of the flagrant lack of study on this molecule, it is extremely difficult to know if the HHC presents psychotropic effects. According to the various testimonies of users, the molecule will have the choice of effects lower than those of THC, or on the contrary, effects close to those of morphine. It is therefore impossible to get an idea without scientific analysis, but, however, there is a good chance that in high doses, this molecule is psychotropic.

Is HHC a drug?

There are several answers, depending on how you define the word drug. If by that we mean a psychoactive substance, it is very likely that yes, this molecule can be considered a drug. If we take as a criterion the fact of causing an addiction, there are still no studies proving that it causes any addiction. However, if its effects are similar to those of cannabis, it is once again very likely that this molecule causes addiction. So the answer will again be yes. Ultimately, if you define the word drug as "Has negative health effects", then it will depend on how you consume it. Indeed, it will definitely be bad for your health if you smoke it, while this will not necessarily be the case if you ingest it. To answer this question clearly, all of its effects would have to be known.

Is it dangerous to consume the HHC molecule?

As things stand, there is no evidence that the HHC in cannabis is a substance hazardous to health in any way. But similarly, there is no evidence that it is a benign substance in the long term. As with all psychotropic products, the dangerousness of the product will be very different depending on how you consume it and whether you are addicted to it or not. It will also vary according to the way in which the molecule was manufactured and according to the mental and physical state of the consumer at the time of taking. If it turns out that this molecule is a disruptor of information processing by the brain (psychodysleptic), then it will undoubtedly be considered dangerous. Before its ban in France, we could be sure that HHC-based products came from secure manufacturing sites and standards. This is no longer the case.

HHC the advice of doctors.

Unsurprisingly, doctors recommend caution until there has been a studies proving the safety of the HHC molecule. However, the experts seem to think that with the French prohibition policy and the banning of this kind of molecules, we are heading straight for a disaster from the point of view of consumer health support, just like a police and legal disaster. Indeed, if the molecule turns out to be dangerous, it will be much easier to carry out prevention and take care of patients if its consumption is legal and supervised. While making it illegal makes it a market for the mafias and makes it impossible to control production with safety standards.

Is it legal in France?

For a while, a legal vagueness surrounded the HHC molecule. But, since the end of July 2022, lawyers have confirmed that the decree of May 27, 2015 on narcotics also takes it into account. Indeed, it is one of the cyclohexylphenols, classified as narcotics, even if the name "hexahydrocannabinol" does not appear in the decree. It is therefore classified as a narcotic by French legislation, in the same way as THC. Even if many sites selling CBD offer HHC for purchase, this molecule is therefore no longer authorized for sale or purchase, but as no new law has been passed, legal uncertainty exists. always to a certain extent, explaining why there are still so many shops to sell it and so many people to believe that this molecule is still legal. It is very likely that the legislation will tighten in the coming months. Anyway, it's not legal in France right now.

Why don't we sell HHC on Famous CBD?

Famous CBD is a site that offers well-being products: we do not want to sell a product that has not been proven in this sense. In addition, the lack of research on its dangerousness is prohibitive for us: it is out of the question that we sell a product to our customers without knowing what its dangers are. We prefer to offer you CBD products, at a good price, whose effectiveness and harmlessness have been proven time and time again, such as CBD pollen or CBD oils. These products are also 100% legal in France and will certainly remain so.
